Abingdon Strings have performed in St Nicolas' Church

Abingdon Strings ‐ is a small string orchestra, consisting of beginning and intermediate adult string players, - violin, viola and cello. They meet with conductor/coach Marion Crombie from September to March, and Valerie Findlay from March to September.  Rehearsals are on alternate Saturday mornings, 10.30 - 12.30 at  Abingdon Music Centre.

Jazz Ensemble playing course

The emphasis of the course will be on playing in a band.There will be no specific instrumental guidance, so you can combine the course with having instrumental lessons alongside. The course is for...

  • Those with little or no experience of playing jazz in a group
  • Any instruments or singers with reasonable technical ability
  • Over 16s

Adult Beginners' Keyboard Class

  • Starting soon
  • Every Monday 8-9pm at Abingdon Music Centre during term time (12 classes per term)
  • Adults £120 per term / Children over 10 (accompanied by an adult) £60 per term
  • If you can't pay up front you can pay weekly but please still come to all the sessions!
  • To learn keyboard from basics in a step-by-step, fun and friendly environment

Abingdon Junior Orchestra

Wednesdays 3.30-4.30pm

This mixed instrument orchestra is for primary school players from beginner to grade 3. Free for those in the First Access programme (tuition through primary schools).

South Oxfordshire Young Singers (SOYS)

SOYS is a group for enthusiastic and able primary aged singers in Y3-6 looking to challenge themselves beyond school choir and improve their vocal technique and musical ability by singing an exciting range of pieces in up to three-part harmony.

There are performance opportunities at prestigious events and venues throughout the year including the Sheldonian and Oxford Town Hall. This term (Spring), the choir will be performing at the Oxfordshire Music Service's Pop Festival accompanied by a live band. The group meets at Larkmead School from 4.30-5.30 pm on Wednesdays during term time.

South Oxfordshire Youth Performing Arts

SOYPA is open to young people in year 7, 8, 9 and 10 with an interest in performing arts. We welcome all abilities and you don't need to be able to read music. Singing is varied, covering a wide range of styles and part singing. Movement is for all abilities, developed through creative ideas as well as dance techniques. Pupils work on developing dramatic expression through improvisation. There is an annual show in the summer term.
The group meets at Larkmead School from 5.30-7 pm on Wednesdays during term time.
